Thank you for staying connected with our Dance community. Looking forward to another week of inspiring conversations.

Been practicing with a 3–2 clave loop at 92 bpm and doing spot turns while clapping the pattern; if I can still ‘land my head on 2’ every time, I know my timing’s locked, which fits the rhythm focus from last week. Small caveat: swap to a 2–3 clave or mute the downbeat every 4 bars so you don’t lean on the click and the groove still carries you.

Switched to a 2–3 clave loop around 96 bpm and mute beat 1 every other bar to see if my ‘spotting techniques’ still land clean without the downbeat. If that locks up your neck, step through the groove on 2 and 4 and only spot on the release — https://www.salsabeatmachine.org makes flipping clave sides easy.
